Lost and FFFFound!

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to join the much coverted FFFFound.com which — for those of you who have no idea what I’m on about — is a bookmarking site for images.

FFFFound is in its seemingly permanent Beta stage and is currently invitation only.
(Before I get any pleading e-mails — I have given my much prized ‘code’ to the ever worthy OkayBoss!)

Since joining I’ve accumulated a rather hefty catalogue of images (Passing the 400 mark late last week) with the majority of my early posts being Melbourne-centric.

Despite having a huge pile of work to keep me busy I do love to spend a bit of time adding to the stash.
Ahhhh internet distractions, at least this one is inspirational rather than pure zombie juice. (Yes I’m looking at you Arsebook!)

Create Awards

Last night was the Desktop Create Awards at the “prestigious” CQ club on Queen st, now generally I think award nights are a pointless exercise in self congratulation. The reason that Kate and I went along is because I was asked to supply images to decorate the room and so we got free tickets.
They were printed out large scale by Kodak and were supposed to be put around the columns. For some reason less than half the images I supplied were used and they wern’t put up in particularly noticeable spots.

I’m not really sure why they were used at all or what the theme of the night was supposed to be, we were greeted at the door by a wobbly headed costumed person and then as went through there were Wahol and Maryln impersonators, a “classic rock” cover band, go go girls and a bunch of references to disparate 20th century movement throughout.. quite confusing.

Meggs was there doing live painting of a piece that got auctioned for charity later in the night, and there were a bunch of other people that we knew, which made us feel at home.

There was free-flowing free alcohol and the occasional nibbly thing going around which everyone ravenously leaped on. Unfortunately Kate got an undercooked chicken stick, which then came back to haunt her later in the night. She discretely made a bid for the toilets to rid herself of the unpleasantness only to be interrupted by security and unceremoniously turfed out of the venue, no questions asked.

While I was waiting for Kate to come back (which never happened), I noticed that my printed artwork was not on the walls anymore, further investigation revealed drunken morons with rolled up pieces sticking from their show bags. I then when on a rescue mission getting back at least 6 of the prints, only to find that in their drunken haste the morons had rolled the pieces with the hardcore mounting tape still attached.
So when I got back home and unrolled them, they were almost all destroyed.

Kate eventually texted me that she had been turfed outside and so I went on another rescue rampage, the main exit was blocked by more drunken morons and so I used the fire escape doors, went down a couple of flights of stairs and then out a random door. This door happened to be alarmed, and as it closed behind me I heard the fire alarm going off in the venue.
Undaunted, I continued to try and find my way out, opening another door and winding up in some other part of that massive mainstream club.. a helpful bouncer showed me to the door.

I found Kate looking rather under the weather and we made a hasty retreat.. ah, award ceremonies, free alcohol, random people and Kate and Sean in public. I think next year I might even enter some work!
