The July edition DeskTop Magazine has one of my images on the cover and you can read a feature on yours truly inside, available at pretty much every newsagent in Australia now.
I’ve been at a bit of a ranting loss recently, and, from the people I talk to and those whos opinions I respect it seems that most of us are. There has recently been a return to forward looking politics with the Neo-cons abject failure people are turning to the remnants of the left wing to save us. The sad thing is they dont exist anymore.. decision making has become committee and interest group focused and that means that every policy that is enacted has been watered down to not cause offense and so be horribly ineffectual.
It seems we have past the point of no return.. population growth is over 6 billion and growing exponentially, our riches are based on cheap labor and oil, so without even going into the quagmire of climate change we seem to be pretty screwed. While governments twist and turn on carbon trading (shuffling deck-chairs on the Titanic) it seems that no one has noticed Peak Oil.. yes, thats right, oil is a finite resource and we are now on the downward slope. What will happen when the economy begins to pick up? Oil prices will go right back up and start the whole mess again.
So the realists are waiting for the crash (its just been very minor bumps so far), Ive even heard intelligent people talking up modern societys’ doom: Overpopulation, no resources, famine, pestilence, war and death.. weeeee - may you live in interesting times!
No wonder we are seeing the disturbing resurgence of religion.
Speaking of the dead end of civilization, check out this photo from the art market we were involved in a few months back.. for the first 2 weeks we had a really good stall next to us, then we turn up and see this!

Yes, they were serious.. they even nailed tim-tams to the wall.. horrible, over privileged, hipster, private school girls who had obviously never heard a word of criticism in their short, stupid lives. It would have been really funny, if they hadn’t set up right next to us, and then had their retarded little friends over making passion-pop punch in a bucket!

Yea, that was some stupid crap…
Hi, i saw your art on the cover of that desktop magazine and had the sudden urge to pay 8 dollars for it, I found the article on you quite interesting and inspiring, Nice work!
Hey, thanks for the comment, I’m really glad you appreciated the article.
Browsing through the magazines at the newsagent and the cover of Desktop caught my eye. The illustration you have done is great!!! That’s how I came to be here.
Do you have a version without the barcode etc on it? I’ve been looking for a design for a tattoo and I love this image! Plus Melbourne is home which makes it perfect.
Thanks.
Hey Wombat, Drop me a line at info at bucketothought dot com and we can work out how to make the image work as a tattoo
