Check out the latest copy of DeskTop Magazine (Aus), its got a 4 page article on the loverly LoungeKat, awesome! Below is a preview of the first 2 pages..

On Sunday LoungeKat and I went and hung out with Claudio, had a BBQ and watched him doing some resin casting for a new project. Hes a very talented and technical man, the casting stuff is very cool, also had a look at his decks for this years’ No Comply - MADNESS! Such a craftsman. Here he is being a BBQ craftsman!

In other news the Victorian government is trying to strangle Melbournes’ world renowned street art scene, its the biggest heap of shit.. they make no differentiation between tagging and the true art that has developed on the walls of our city. We have a truly unique culture that’s developed here - check the article.
The Victorian government personifies everything I hate about “New Labour”, they are a managerial class who are obsessed with the dogma of “public private partnership” in other words giving away every public asset to the lowest bidder. No public consultation, and pure management rhetoric. What makes me really sick is that the only alternative are the Liberals and they are just more bare faced about doing the same things!
Then there is the public “art” that the government loves.. Advertising.. everyone is going on about saving energy etc but why the hell then am I seeing more and more illuminated and animated billboards and why does every second shop have plasma screens in the window on 24 hours a day!?
Here are some horrible examples of adverting spotted by LoungeKat and I over the past couple of days..

What the hell is with that? Seriously, what does an accountant think about - the most surface issue - money. Create! Nothing could be further from the truth.. except maybe creating lies to help clients dodge tax, wonderful.
How do they represent the creative guy, wow, so creative, a slightly different suit, listening to an iPod (ie being a detached zombie) and has a copy of Wired - damn thats creative!

Zen, the Fragrence, the Sensation, the Emotion.. ok.. wtf
“A school of Mahayana Buddhism that asserts that enlightenment can be attained through meditation, self-contemplation, and intuition rather than through faith and devotion” thats a dictionary definition of Zen. Personally I’m quite a big fan of intellectual Buddhism, it puts you in the now, encourages contemplation and calm stillness. Never in my contact with Zen has there been any Fragrence or Emotion.. in fact emotion is completely discouraged.. ahh advertising, so full of wisdom and meaning. I love that I can’t be anywhere without being bombarded with mental feces!
